Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG): natural gas that has been cooled to a low temperature of -162°C to become a liquid. 
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG): natural gas that has been compressed to less than 1% of its volume at standard atmospheric pressure.
Renewable Natural Gas (RNG): natural gas made from decomposing organic waste, also known as biogas. Biogas is a renewable source of methane gas, created when organic matter breaks down in an oxygen-free environment. ​

Cleaner

  • Switching to LNG from coal and oil can reduce 20-45% of CO2 emission (>90% if use biogas as feedstock). 
  • Using LNG can reduce up to 100% of dangerous air pollutants emission such as SOx and PM 2.5. Natural gas vehicles emit virtually no particulate matter, the harmful microscopic component of air pollution that penetrates deeply into the lungs.
  • BC Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets Act ,  Clean Energy Act and Renewable and Low Carbon Fuel Requirements Regulation all support to use natural gas as cleaner fuel for transportation.

  • As a fuel, Natural gas is 25-50 % cheaper than Diesel and gasoline at the pumps.
  • Using natural gas as alternative fuel can help reduce energy costs and improve bottom lines.
  • National gas commodity price is more stable than oil. This provides better stability to the energy users over oil-based energy.

  • Domestic abundance of supply. Canada is the world’s  5th largest natural gas producer with production of 13.9 billion cubic feet per day. BC is the 2nd largest natural producer in Canada with production of 3.9 billion cubic feet per day.
  • There are 25,060 – 44,344 billion cubic meters (BCM) or 885–1,566 Tcf marketable natural gas in Canada which can sustain current national energy demand for up to 300 years
